FOR RELEASE: IMMEDIATE Friday, February 5, 2010 TRAVELER ADVISORY Hutchinson River Parkway Lane Closures New Rochelle, Scarsdale and Harrison, Westchester County Motorists are advised that lane closures are planned on the northbound and southbound Hutchinson River Parkway, between Exit 15 (Cross County Parkway) and Exit 26W (Interstate 287) Monday, February 8, and Tuesday, February 9, for overhead sign structure inspections. The single-lane closure will occur between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day. Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling through the work area and pay particular attention to all traffic control devices, including work zone signs and flaggers. Motorists are also reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of the drivers license.

FOR RELEASE: IMMEDIATE Friday, February 5, 2010 TRAVELER ADVISORY I-287 Stage III Reconstruction Project The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) announced that work will continue at multiple sites throughout the project area, including the North Broadway/Route 22 Bridge over I-287; the Westchester Avenue Bridge over I-287 and the Lake Street Bridge over I-287. At the North Broadway/Route 22 Bridge over I-287: Remaining sidewalk installation, as well as construction of additional curbing and curb cuts and necessary pedestrian signals, is ongoing at the site. The bridge, and its immediate areas to the north and south of the newly reconstructed structure, will remain in this configuration for the next two to three months. Full access to vehicular traffic has taken place, with additional vehicular and crosswalk striping to take place soon. In addition, progress continues on the east sidewalk of the new bridge which should be available to pedestrians within the next few weeks. Two full traffic lanes, north and southbound, along with turning lanes situated on the north and south end of the bridge have been made available to North Broadway motorists, along with a newly replaced west sidewalk. This newly reconstructed bridge reopened with the new west sidewalk available for use, as the temporary pedestrian bridge was removed at that time. Excavation and repaving was completed near the intersection of North Broadway and Cemetery Road (near the north end of the bridge). As a result, the project may need to close the southbound right-turn only access to Cemetery Road to allow repaving and utility valve and manhole relocation work to take place. Repaving of the approaches was completed on both the north and south end of the new bridge. New sidewalks and curbing have been installed on the northwest and southwest end of the bridge at the intersections of Cemetery Road and North Broadway, and at the eastbound Interchange 6 exit ramp and southbound Broadway. In addition, new signal poles have been situated, as well as new pedestrian crosswalks, on both sides of the new bridge. With the bridge open, access was restored to Cemetery Road and the Bronx River Parkway entrance. Motorists are advised to travel with caution through the work zone and to obey posted speed limits and directional signage in the project area. Pedestrians needing to cross the bridge are encouraged to use the temporary path, and when possible, be escorted by project personnel. News from New York State Thruway Authority For more information contact: Office of Media Relations & Public Affairs Thruway Authority to Continue Tappan Zee Bridge Deck Replacement Project ALBANY, NY (02/05/2010)(readMedia)-- The New York State Thruway Authority announced that deck replacement work on the Tappan Zee Bridge will continue during the week of February 8, 2010. The work is to be done in sequential order and the direction of the work may be adjusted due to delays and cancellation due to inclement weather. All work is weather-dependent and subject to change. Updates will be issued announcing any change in schedule. Lane closures during this operation: Monday, February 8 through Wednesday, February 10 Work will begin at 8 p.m. resulting in the closure of two right northbound lanes, until 6 a.m. from milepost 13.8 to the west abutment on the Tappan Zee Bridge. At least two lanes northbound and two lanes southbound will be opened to traffic from 11 p.m. until 6 a.m. These lane closures are for the installation of the new steel barrier, the installation of joints in the causeway, and to clean and remove the shield at the main span and west deck truss. All lanes are expected to be open by 6 a.m. the following day. During Monday through Wednesday night's operations, due to the northbound lane closures, the entrance ramp from Broadway (southbound) in Tarrytown will also be closed from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. All traffic will be detoured to the entrance ramp from Route 119. Roadwork at the Henry Hudson Bridge, expect daily lane closures (up to 2 lanes closed) between the hours of 9:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M. Delays expected in the Bronx and possibly back into Westchester County. **** MTA Bridges and Tunnels/Henry Hudson Bridge advises that one lane of the southbound (Manhattan-bound) bridge will be permanently closed for long term bridge construction leaving three lanes available. One additional lane may be closed during off-peak hours. ****
