TRAVELER ADVISORY I-287 Stage III Reconstruction Project: May 7, 2008 The New York State Department of Transportation announced that project work will continue at a number of worksites throughout the area, including the Westchester Avenue over I-287 Bridge, Ramp G Overpass, the Grant Ave. over I-287 Bridge, the North Broadway Bridge and the Ramp T Bridge over Westchester Avenue. The first stage of demolition at the North Broadway/Route 22 Bridge is expected to begin following the Memorial Day holiday.* As the onset of this work draws nearer, more specific information about the start of this work and its potential impacts, will be shared with the surrounding community. At the same time, utility relocation, retaining wall and temporary bridge preparations continue in the vicinity of North Kensico Pl., Lake St. and Woodcrest Ave as well as on North Broadway and Orchard Street. These operations take place during day shifts, and will be conducted behind temporary barrier where possible. In some cases, however, single lane closures and brief traffic stoppages may be necessary. Local traffic flows will be maintained with the assistance of City of White Plains Police Officers as well as Contractor Flagging Personnel. Rock Blasting along the I-287 Cross Westchester Expressway is expected to resume following the Memorial Day holiday. Residents living within close proximity of the next rock blasting location will be pre-notified of the onset of these operations. On behalf of the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) the I-287 Stage III Reconstruction Project staff would like to reassure both the residential and motoring public, that the Project will take every precaution to ensure that the remaining rock blasting to be conducted on this Project, will be implemented with the utmost attention to safeguarding the surrounding communities as this necessary work progresses. The work is being done in association with the Woodbury Toll Barrier Highway Speed E-ZPass project. Alternate left and right lane closures in both directions will be in place beginning Monday, May 5 through Friday, May 9, 2008 from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. from two miles south of the Woodbury Toll Barrier and will extend two miles north of the barrier, weather permitting. The Authority has activated Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) to advise motorists of the lane closures. The Modena Travel Plaza is located approximately southbound between Interchanges 18 (New Paltz) and 17 (Newburgh I-84), at milepost 66 Northbound motorists are advised that the next available travel plaza with restaurant and restroom services is the Malden Travel Plaza, located approximately 32 miles north of the Plattekill Travel Plaza, between Interchanges 20 (Saugerties) and 21 (Catskill), at milepost 103.
